FAQS
Property owners should understand that the use of pesticides always pose some risk and their use cannot be made completely safe. The level of risk posed by a chemical depends on its toxicity and level of exposure. The simplest way to minimize risk is to limit your exposure to pesticides. The best way to do that is to use a professional, such as Unlimited Lawn Care, who will use only the proper products with people who are trained to use pesticides properly. By using a professional, you’ll have no need to store the concentrated pesticide in your garage, thereby eliminating the risk posed by that. The pesticides used by lawn care professionals are usually the same as “general use” products available to the homeowner at your local garden center.
The products used by Unlimited Landscaping are packaged in larger and more concentrated quantities, but they are diluted to the same strength as the ready-to-use products sold directly to the homeowner. When diluted and applied according to label instructions, the products we use pose no unreasonable risk to you, your pets, or our technicians. If anybody should be concerned, it is us, the people who are using the products every day! We have the full confidence in the effectiveness and minimal risk factors when using our products. When we do a blanket liquid treatment, usually early spring and late fall, we do ask that the pets be off the lawn until the product has had a chance to dry.
This is usually about about 24 hours. After that, pets and people can re-enter the lawn according to label instructions. With dry fertilizer applications and spot-treatment of weeds, as long as your dogs are nice and won’t eat up our technicians, can stay out on the lawn if you don’t want to keep them inside.
Soil health is crucial for a thriving lawn. To enhance your soil, consider regular aeration, which improves air and water penetration. Additionally, you can incorporate organic matter, such as compost, to improve soil structure and nutrient content. Conduct a soil test to identify any deficiencies and adjust your fertilization accordingly. Finally, mow your grass at the recommended height for your specific grass type, as this helps maintain soil moisture and grass health.
All of our applications are very important key factors for maintaining a healthy, weed-free lawn. The most important applications occur when the grass is either dormant or going dormant. Let me explain: At Unlimited, we perform two pre-emergence applications in early and late fall. These two applications help minimize early and late winter annual weeds from germinating. If a customer decides not to let us apply these treatments within their specific time frames, then by January through March, their lawn will be covered in winter annual weeds. The two pre-emergence applications we apply from January through the end of March are also extremely important. If your lawn misses one or both of these applications, it will develop crabgrass and many other summer annual weeds during the growing season.
Why are there two kinds and why do you use each?? In the case of granular vs. liquid applications is one of the most important things to know is the absorption rate (how long it takes to sink into the soil). Almost all granular applications require 24 – 72 hours to become fully absorbed into the soil after receiving water. The time for a liquid application is faster, much faster. It is usually under 24 hours. It also lets us control our rates daily depending on temperature, so we don’t burn the grass. So this is why Unlimited Landscaping does a mix of both depending on what type of grass, the season, temperature etc.
Brown Patch, (Rhizoctonia species), is a turf grass fungal disease that attacks lawns during humid and warm temperatures. While it can also be found in some ryegrass and bluegrass varieties, it particularly loves to infect tall fescue. If left untreated, Brown Patch will thin out and kill off large sections of your lawn. Adjusting soil pH and applying fungicides can keep it in check.
